On Wednesday and Thursday, 15 and 16 February, will take place on the facilities of the National Geographic Institute the final workshop of CENIT project España Virtual. The event, which GeoSpatiumLab will attend, can be followed via twitter and the official project page.

España Virtual is an R & D project, funded by CDTI in the Ingenio 2010 program, which aims to lay the foundations for a future ecosystem of multimedia content and interactive services that join together the technology known as Web 2.0 with social, semantic and geographic (orthophotos, satellite image, digital terrain models, 3D buildings ...), a new generation of 3D tools to interact with the virtual world. With a duration of four years, the project has been led by DEIMOS Space and has had the participation of the National Center for Geographic Information (IGN/CNIG), Indra Espacio, Androme Ibérica, GeoSpatiumLab, DNX, Prodevelop, Telefónica I+D and a dozen prestigious research centers and universities.

GeoSpatiumLab has contributed to the results of the project by building various web and mobile applications, among which we can highlight:

• A listing of orthoimagery and satellite imagery available on the Internet, which runs the Web on a regular basis for services that provide such images, classifying and documenting its contents to allow the user to the recovery of resources appropriate to their interests. • An augmented reality application that, using the capabilities of next generation mobile devices (camera, GPS, etc.), allows users to obtain information from their environment combining real and virtual elements that are closest to his/her location. As an added bonus, thanks to the uprising in 3D urban buildings, will show only items visible from the position of the filtering device that are outside the scope of the user's view to be out of your field of vision.

• An application of immersion in a 3D environment based solely on the three-dimensional audio emulation by a mobile client that can emulate 3D effects from a series of audio sources located in specific geographic locations.
