LAUNCH OF ZARAGOZA CITY COUNCIL’S ONLINE APPLICATION FOR MINOR BUILDING WORKS

Zaragoza City Council has launched a new web-based application to manage minor building works digitally, enabling the entire process to be completed without the need to visit municipal offices.

This initiative represents a step forward in administrative modernisation, providing faster, more accessible and more efficient procedures for the public.

The tool provides step-by-step guidance on selecting the procedure, preparing the documentation and paying fees, simplifying a process that until now required several in-person visits.

More than 16,500 minor works applications are processed each year, a volume that can now be managed more efficiently. Furthermore, digitisation will eliminate the need for between three and four in-person visits per procedure, representing a significant time saving for both citizens and the administration.

Three key aspects stand out among its main advantages:

  • Full digitisation of the process, including self-assessment and online payment by card or Bizum.
  • Intelligent assistance, which guides the user in a straightforward manner through questions based on a decision tree.
  • Time savings and greater convenience, reducing the need for visits and streamlining the processing of thousands of applications each year.

This app, developed by Geoslab, has presented a significant challenge as, for the first time, payment of the relevant council tax has been integrated digitally via a secure payment platform. This technological integration will enable the more streamlined development of new tools to provide services to the public in the future.
