GEDEFEC

PROTOTYPE OF A DIGITAL TWIN
Digital twin for nut farms
  • Digital twin
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • AgTech

The main objective of the project is to develop a proposal for a digital twin for a specific type of farm: nuts.

Digital twins allow the digitisation of physical reality as a base element to be able to apply artificial intelligence techniques to large volumes of data.

The concept of digital twins in agriculture is very little consolidated, especially due to the great complexity involved in discretising a reality based on living “elements” (a plant or an animal or a group of them…) and with such heterogeneous and complex temporal (plants with life spans of one year versus plants with life spans of hundreds of years…) and spatial (small farms versus larger ones) scopes.

The project is structured in three phases:

✓ Phase I: The focus in on the characterisation and development of the twin prototype for the digitisation of an individual farm.

✓ Phase II: it includes all aspects related to the implementation of automatic mechanisms to feed the twin with data, as well as its feedback from the different scenarios that may be proposed.

✓ Phase III: The work will consist on analysing the interrelationships between farms and the way in which the actions carried out in one may affect the others. Also in this phase, learning mechanisms based on artificial intelligence techniques will be introduced.

The GEDEFEC project is supported by the Support Programme for Innovative Business Groups (AEI) of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

✓ Phase I: Call for October 2021. Reference: AEI-010500-2021b-122.

✓ Phase II: Call in June 2022. Reference: AEI-010500-2022b-61

✓ Phase III: Call for October 2023. Reference: AEI-010500-2023-182
